Essential Questions

This is something that I have though about a lot. What am I actually going to do when I get out of school. The area that I find to be fascinating is swallowing. The process of swallowing with a normal oral mechanism is highly interesting, it becomes even more interesting when the aspect of disorder is added to it. I could definitely see myself helping people that cannot swallow correctly, helping them to prevent aspriation. I want to know why/what happened top cause the problems. Where are the problems located( what part of the swallow) in the oral mech? I can think of so many questions that need to be answered and that I find very interesting.

I guess my essential question would be, what are different ways to help clients with swallowing disorders.

I feel like I have not had much information given to me about this subject matter. I cannot wait untill this is discussed more thoroughly in class.

Learning Futures

There are multiple ways that I can continue my education and forge knowlege. One important thing to do is to never stop learning, always look for more information, never be satisfied with the information you already have. There are many sources of information out there and it is important to remember that it is possible that I don't know everything, there are people who know much more than I do. Another important way of continuing education is to keep and open mind. It is essential to be willing to change your ways when something better comes about. We all hated those teachers that were set in there old, out-of-date beliefs, it is important not to become one of those people. This is not just in the practice of speech pathology, this important to remember these things and do these things in all aspects of life.
