Personal History: Fall 2002

Becoming a speech pathologist was not my original plan. All of my life I had planned on becoming a pediatric dentist. I knew that I enjoyed the work because I have worked in two different dentists offices. Once I got to college however I quickly found out that I HATED CHEMISTRY! I capitalize this to try to show the passion I hated it with. I was miserable and one day I finally said I cannot take this anymore. I began looking around at different things. I always thought that speech pathology sounded interesting so I decided to call of one of my oldest friends that was/is in the CD program Amber Hankins ( she will always be Hankins to me). We talked about all of the classes and the many things that you can do with this degree. This all sounded very interesting to me. I talked to some other people about this and I thought long and hard about it and I finally decided to change my major to communication disorders and I am happy to say that I have not regreted it one time since I made the change.
